Meet TJ

Hi! I’m TJ, the Colorado native baker and sugar artist behind Teal Velvet Bakery. I am an award winning and Wilton certified decorator who has been baking and decorating cakes, cookies, and more since I was 6 years old.

As a teenager, I began decorating celebration and wedding cakes for competition for 4-H and open class (going up against adults) at the county fair. My cakes have won many grand prizes at the county and state levels. I have also done several live competitions.

Nowadays, I am a homeschooling work-at-home wife, mom, writer, and home-based cake and cookie decorator running my business under Colorado state’s Cottage Foods Act.

Safety

Safety is beyond important to me! I am an OCD germophobe so I wash my hands many, many times a day and I keep all of my surfaces (especially those in the kitchen) squeaky clean.

I am also trained in Colorado cottage food safety (see copy of certificate) and I regularly practice commercial kitchen food safety procedures while working with food of any kind.
